What was the ghostwriting theory? I'm new here so I've never heard it.

Basically, one of our members liked to free-associate; it was a little like PID theorists, to a certain extent, without wishing to sound unkind. She started seeing "clues" about her particular theory of John and Paul's relationship in other popular songs from the Sixties through today, and came to the conclusion that they (and, of course, after John died, just Paul, though on occasion she was even heard to doubt whether or not John had actually died) were ghostwriting stuff to, and about, each other through major artists, and that other major artists had written songs about them. It never really took hold with anyone but her, but she posted fairly frequently, usually in the comments section or on her own journal, about it.

(From personal, albeit second-hand, knowledge, I can state that John and Paul, usually more Paul, may have ghostwritten stuff for other people over the years, and it's within the realm of reason, given the nature of songwriting, that they might have been inspired by their relationship at times when they did so, but it was never at the prolific rate she suggested, which had John and Paul responsible for not just their own songs, but John writing most of the lyrics credited to George in the boys' oeuvre, and John and Paul -- separately or together -- being mostly responsible for the classic rock songbook of the mid-late 20th and early 21st centuries, either via ghostwriting or being the subject of the material.)

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much.

The only reason that I do worry is that there are hallmarks that make it pretty clear that the person who submitted it either was/is a member of the community, or has read it frequently. And the only reason that bothers me is that there are people who read and post to this community who do know the truth first-hand, or at least have some idea second-hand, and I don't want the finger of blame to be pointed at them in the event someone important reads it and connects the dots that theorizing and fic elements from here are in the blind. (If anyone thinks they're not aware of this community, they are very aware and some read it at their leisure from time to time.)

...I haven't seen interviews where he's talking about John lately. Almost like he's shut up. Except in song, because he still plays the song he wrote for John at every concert, right?

He does still sing "Here Today," yes.

Also, he and Nancy recently participated in the New York "March for Our Lives" in support of gun control (many celebrities took to the streets all over the country, but Paul was the one CNN shoved a microphone at), and when he was interviewed, wearing a "We Can End Gun Violence" T-shirt no less, he referred to his motivation for marching in no uncertain terms: "One of my best friends was killed by gun violence right 'round here." (Smart move, in my opinion, whether one supports gun control or not; he was making the valid point that gun violence has been around since way before Columbine. Connecting the past to the present is tougher than it looks, but it lends grounding and a deeper meaning to the march.)
